Buffer Size and Position

To reduce memory usage data are loaded into the memory in buffers (intervals). The buffer size is specified in the Buffer Size and Position window, which is accessible by pressing the Set Buffer Pos. button on the AEM Edit Form (EditFormAEM), the GCM and HEM Edit Form (EditFormGCMHEM) or the PACES Edit Form.

The window consists of colorized bars indicating where different data types are present. The red bar in the top shows the current buffer, which can be relocated with a mouse click.

The window is data type specific, using either time or distance depending on the data type, but is otherwise identical in use.

Settings in the top of the window are:

• Buffer Start Time or Buffer Start Dist: The start time or distance of the buffer.
   
• Buffer Size in Minutes or Buffer Size in Meters: The length of the buffer in minutes or meters.
   
• Buffer Overlap: Defines the overlap when the buffer is moved.
