AEM Edit Form

The AEM Edit Form is used to inspect the results from the automatic processing stage and to make the manual processing (ManualProcessingAEMData).

It consists of a number of collections, series (subclass to collections) and plot forms.

To open the AEM Edit Form select the processing node that should be edited and click Show and Edit on the Data Processing ribbon. The processing must be loaded (it will do so automatically if that is not the case). Processing nodes are unloaded when a workspace is closed, but can be reloaded at any time by selecting the processing node and clicking Load on the Airborne TEM ribbon. If the mouse cursor is moved across the plot window the instrument position is automatically highlighted on the GIS map.

For processing related keyboard shortcuts go here (KeyboardShortcuts).

Collections and series

The collections refer to the AEM data types. The panel listing these can be minimized/maximized by pressing the Hide Panel/Show Panel button. For each collection there is usually a number of series of that AEM data type. Available collections and series are:

  • GPS and Topography:

    • Topography: Shows the topography. If no topography has been added (see AddTopography) this series will be calculated from the GPS Elevation and TX edited as a preliminary topography from the first run of the altitude filters. If this altitude filters during this first run have been set badly this can result in a very wrong preliminary topography. It is not possible to recalculate this preliminary topography without also rerunning the GPS processors, so it is not meant to be used as anything but a preliminary topography.

    • Helicopter Speed: The speed of the helicopter in m/s. This is a calculated value found from the change of the GPS positions. For TTEM data the speed is instead read directly from the GPS.

    • GPS Altitude: Altitude (height over ground level) calculated from the GPS Elevation and the topography. If no topography has been added, this series will be set identical to TX edited.

    • GPS Elevation: Measured elevation (height over sea level) from the GPS devices.

  • Tilt: Contains the tilt series. Series are:

    • Cor Factor: Correction factor used in the tilt correction of voltage data.

    • Ave X/Y: Averaged tilt data in X- and Y direction for all devices.

    • # Filt X/Y: Processed tilt data in X- and Y-direction for device #.

    • # Raw X/Y: Raw tilt data in X- and Y-direction for device #.

  • Altitude - Point: Raw altitude series plotted as points. Series are:

    • Tx: Altitude data after automatic processing including tilt correction for the transmitter altitude. Calculated as the mean of # Pass 2. Furthermore the altitude has been corrected for the fact that the laser was not placed in the middle of the transmitter.

    • Tx Edited: Derives from Tx but contains user made edits.

    • Rx Edited: Processed altitude data including including tilt correction and user made corrections for the transmitter altitude. Derived from Tx Edited.

    • # Raw Pass 1: Remaining altitude data after pass 1 for device #. Tilt corrected.

    • # Pass 2: Altitude data after pass 2 for device #. Tilt corrected.

    • # Raw: Raw altitude data for device #. Tilt corrected.

  • Altitude - Line: Altitude series plotted as lines.

  • Altitude - User Edits: Correction series from the manual processing of altitude data.

  • Transmitter: Battery and temperature status:

    • Bat Voltage on: The battery voltage measured during transmitter on time [V].

    • Bat Voltage off: The battery voltage measured during transmitter off time [V].

    • Temperature: The temperature of the transmitter [degrees].

    • Current: The transmitter current [A].

    • Power Line: If power line has been imported, it will be displayed here.

  • Raw #: Raw voltage data for software channel #.

  • Average #: Averaged voltage data for software channel #.

  • Positions #: Position of the raw and averaged voltage data for software channel #.

Settings for the collections are Visible (V) and Editable (E):

  • Visible: Collection is visible.

  • Editable: Collection is editable.

Right-click menu options

A number of features are also accessible through the right-click menu on the series. These include the rarely used options to change the series display, the list of colors used and the format for the series list.

The two most commonly used options also have buttons beneath the collections:

  • Series Visible: Defines which series should be visible/invisible. Provides a faster way of changing visibility status of multiple series than ticking/unticking them one by one.

  • Constant/Factor: This function shifts the y-axis values of a selected collection/series by a constant/factor thereby allowing a user to see series that would otherwise overlap. Use Factors to shift collections displayed logarithmically (voltage data) and Constants to shift those displayed on a linear scale (altitudes, Positions, etc.). Note that only affects the visual appearance of the y-axis - there is no corrections to the data values.

Menu buttons in the top of the AEM Edit Form from left to right:

  • Hide Panel: Hides the collections/series panel to allow for more space during processing

  • Commands:

    • Synchronize deleted soundings between channels: Offers the option of deleting raw data from one software channel on the same position as they were deleted from the other software channel, e.g. delete channel 1 where channel 2 were deleted (see SynchronizeDeletedSoundingsBetweenChannels).

    • Delete Raw soundings with flight height: Offers the option of deleting raw soundings from above a given flight height.

    • Sounding List: Opens a list box with soundings.

    • Display Properties: Opens a Edit Display box.

  • Add new Series: Adds a new series to the Alt Edits collection.

  • Delete selected Series: Deletes the selected Alt Edits series.

  • Sounding: Opens a Sounding Plot.

  • Save: Saves the processing to the database.

  • Update Edits: Recalculates the averaged voltage data (e.g when changes to raw data series have been made) and applies user made altitude corrections.

  • Set Buffer Position: Opens the Buffer Size and Position (BufferSizeAndPosition) window where the buffer interval can be specified.

  • Move buffer: Moves buffer backwards/forwards. Buffer size is specified in the Buffer Size and Position window.

Auto center map: When ticked the GIS map will automatically center on the position of the mouse cursor if this is close to the edge of the map.

  • Show sign: Changes the color of the data to blue (positive) and red (negative).

  • Show disabled: Show/hide disabled data when Show sign is activated.
